Posted on 6 December, 2018

Join us for Advent and Christmas Eve….

Advent is a special time of year. Journey with us as we prepare our hearts for the wonder of God’s love, born on earth as a little baby. We wait, we sigh, we embrace the mystery and each other as we move through the darkness towards the light. Sunday worship is at 10:15 am.  A Christmas Eve Candlelight service is at 5:00 pm on Tuesday, December 24. All are welcome.

High Bridge Closed – Detours to CPUC

Posted on 22 October, 2018

The High Bridge that connects Smith Avenue across the Mississippi River near the church is closed for major repairs until December 2018. If you are coming from the West 7th Street area of St. Paul, please consider using the Wabasha or Robert Street bridges from downtown. Turn right on Plato Boulevard and left on Ohio Street to get up the hill to Baker Street West. The church is a few blocks to your right off Ohio. If you are further out W. 7th Street., take the Highway 35 E bridge south across the river to the Highway 13 exit. Go north (left) on Highway 13 until you reach Smith Avenue South. Turn left onto Smith Avenue. Go a few blocks north to Baker Street West. Turn right and the church is on your left. Parking is available on the street or in the Johnson-Peterson Funeral Home lot north of the building on Manomin Street.

Grow Your Spirit! – Ecclesiastes LISTEN UP! Bible Study

Posted on 29 May, 2017

God’s word is alive. God will always have something new to say to us.The Adult Forum will study the Book of  Ecclesiastes.
Classes resume at 9 am on Sunday, September 17. Please consider attending these insightful and uplifting sessions where we share and grow our faith. Anyone high school age or older is welcome to join us in the Parent’s Room, near the Manomin Street entry.
Sometimes considered the most curmudgeonly and cynical of all the books of the Bible, Ecclesiastes is also praised for telling it like it is. It addresses eternal problems that have always troubled human society: the problem of pain, the fruitlessness of overwork, the vanity of ambition, the age of anxiety, the fear of death and being forgotten. Ecclesiastes reminds us that these are not 21st century problems.

This book of wisdom also reminds us that the great joys in life are fairly simple: snuggling under the covers, having close friends and/or a sweetheart, sunlight, rest, eating good food and drinking good wine, and a good day’s work. It offers soothing certainty about what it means to enjoy the good life: waiting, expecting, with open arms, to receive day by day the good things that come from God.
