The annual “Gathering in the Park” will be on July 23. We’ll worship at the pavilion in nearby Cherokee Park. A “potluck” picnic follows with grills available and games for kids of all ages. Join us as we celebrate this special season in Minnesota.

Grow Your Spirit! – Ecclesiastes LISTEN UP! Bible Study

Posted on 29 May, 2017

God’s word is alive. God will always have something new to say to us.The Adult Forum will study the Book of  Ecclesiastes.
Classes resume at 9 am on Sunday, September 17. Please consider attending these insightful and uplifting sessions where we share and grow our faith. Anyone high school age or older is welcome to join us in the Parent’s Room, near the Manomin Street entry.
Sometimes considered the most curmudgeonly and cynical of all the books of the Bible, Ecclesiastes is also praised for telling it like it is. It addresses eternal problems that have always troubled human society: the problem of pain, the fruitlessness of overwork, the vanity of ambition, the age of anxiety, the fear of death and being forgotten. Ecclesiastes reminds us that these are not 21st century problems.

This book of wisdom also reminds us that the great joys in life are fairly simple: snuggling under the covers, having close friends and/or a sweetheart, sunlight, rest, eating good food and drinking good wine, and a good day’s work. It offers soothing certainty about what it means to enjoy the good life: waiting, expecting, with open arms, to receive day by day the good things that come from God.

Happy Anniversary to Us!

Posted on 29 May, 2017

It is our tradition to celebrate, on the first Sunday in June, the beginning of Cherokee Park United Church, a merger of St. John’s United Church of Christ and Cherokee Heights Presbyterian Church. This is our 49th anniversary. We also celebrate milestones in membership, our new high school graduates (if we have any), and following worship, enjoy a tantalizing roast beef dinner (vegetarian dishes included.) Happy Anniversary Cherokee Park United!

Cinco de Mayo Parade

Posted on 30 April, 2017

On Saturday, May 6 the Cinco de Mayo Parade marches south on Wabasha and Cesar Chavez Street in a colorful, spirit-filled procession.  Come join us!  Cherokee Park United will be there with our float.  Look for us in our church T-shirts and with our puppet friends.  Plan to stay for the food, festivities and fun after the parade.

Following worship on May 7, the Outreach Ministry team will host a special Fellowship Hour in honor of Cinco de Mayo. There will be Mexican pastries and a piñata for the children. Bienvenido!
